ANZAC DAY 2017 at Cameron Rocks Reserve

On Tuesday 25 April, the Clayfield-Toombul RSL sub-branch will host its annual ANZAC Day dawn service at the Hamilton War Memorial at Cameron Rocks Reserve.

Temporary lane closures on Yulestar Street, Albion

As part of improvement works between Cooksley Street and Breakfast Creek Road at Albion, asphalt works will be taking place on the northern side of Yulestar Street during April and May.

Lane closures and stop/go traffic control will be required on Yulestar Street during this work. Access to side streets and all properties will be maintained at all times and traffic controllers and additional signage will be in place to assist motorists.

Some lane closures will be in place for 24 hours during these works, however the majority of works will take place from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 5pm Saturdays. If out-of-hours work is required, directly impacted residents will be notified.

Work on Sunday – KSD changed traffic conditions

Lendlease will continue to undertake construction activities between 7am Sunday and 5am Monday over a number of consecutive weekends until early May 2017.

Work will involve digging trenches across Kingsford Smith Drive to install underground services at various locations between Riverview Terrace and College Street, Hamilton.

The additional Sunday shifts will reduce the impact of night work on local residents by allowing the project team to complete construction activities during the day that would otherwise need to be carried out at night.

During this work, traffic control will be in place on Kingsford Smith Drive with one lane open to traffic in each direction. Access to all side streets and properties will be maintained under the direction of traffic control.

Change to night works construction hours

Changed construction hours for night time activities are currently being trialled to allow some noisier activities to be completed earlier in the shift.

Where night works are required, the trial allows for works to start from 7pm between Harbour Road and Theodore Street, and from 8pm between Amy Street and Harbour Road. Impacts to traffic will continue to be monitored and a longer term decision about night works hours will be made in the coming months.

Night works activities will take place between Sunday and Thursday. If out-of-hours work is required, directly impacted residents will be notified.

Day time construction activities will continue to take place from 7am-6pm, Monday to Friday from 8am-5pm on Saturdays and on selected Sundays.

From late April 2017, the westbound lane on Allen Street will be temporarily closed at Seymour Road to install water tanks to manage ground water in preparation for the installation of a new gas pipe in the area. The pump and tanks will be housed inside two shipping containers.

In addition, Seymour Road will be temporarily closed between Kingsford Smith Drive and Allen Street from mid-May 2017 while the new gas pipe is being installed. The new pipe will be installed beneath Kingsford Smith Drive working from south to north and continuing along Seymour Road into Allen Street.

Both road closures will remain in place until mid-July 2017.

Work will be undertaken from Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm and on Saturdays between 8am and 5pm. Work will involve the use of excavators, trucks, vacuum excavators and pumps to excavate a large pit and trenches to install gas pipes and connections.

Detour signs will be installed to help pedestrians and motorists navigate through the area during the closures.

Pedestrian access will be maintained through the work site. Driveway access will be maintained at all times under the direction of traffic control officers.

In the event of wet weather or unforeseen circumstances, this work may be extended.

On Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 April 2017 between 8am and 5pm, the left turn out of Harbour Road onto Kingsford Smith Drive will be temporarily closed.

This partial closure is required to allow for the installation of underground services beneath Harbour Road. Work will involve excavating a trench across Harbour Road to install a new section of water main.

The left and right turns into Harbour Road from Kingsford Smith Drive will be maintained under the direction of traffic control with additional signage installed to help motorists navigate around the work area.

This closure enables the project team to carry out the bulk of the work during the day to minimise the impact of consecutive night shifts on local residents.

Pedestrian access will be maintained around the work site under the direction of traffic control and driveway access for residents and businesses will be maintained at all times.

In the event of wet weather or unforeseen circumstances, this closure may extend to allow the work activity to be completed safely.
