These racing events feature black type races attracting wide interest from the public, media and industry.
The Brisbane Racing Carnival (held in May/June) in particular showcases the cream of racing champions from Australia and New Zealand. This carnival has become an iconic event on the social calendar for Brisbane and includes the BTC Cup, Doomben Cup, the Doomben 10,000, Queensland Oaks, Queensland Derby, JJ Atkins and the grand final event, AAMI Stradbroke Day. The Brisbane Racing Club also hosts many other feature racing events including Exhibition Wednesday and Melbourne Cup Day.
Annual Pink’d UP Event
Racecourse Road turns pink every October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month. In years past, our community has banded together to decorate the poinciana trees of the Road pink with ribbons and art installations; we have hosted Pink Breakfasts, Brunches and Lunches with all profits donated to Mater Chicks in Pink.
The Racecourse Road Business Group has proudly raise over $90,000 since 2008 with over $10,000 raised this year. We are looking to make 2017 (our tenth year) the biggest a best yet hit the $100,000 mark. The Racecourse Road Business Group and community are proud to make a difference to the lives of those incredible women with Breast Cancer through our awareness campaign and raising funds for Mater Chicks in Pink. Join us in 2017 – every little bit counts!
Racecourse Road Annual Community Christmas
It has become a tradition for the Racecourse Road Community to come together for an annual Christmas Festival. Calling on the talents from our local schools, entertainers and roving street performers, the festival comes to life as you wander through the St. Augustine’s Church grounds perusing the handicrafts of the festive twilight market stalls. Boutiques extend there opening hours for your late night Christmas shopping and there is something for all ages; from face painting and Christmas goodies to mulled wine. Grab a candle, join in the carols and make this a tradition for you and yours.
